Exception for eligible fully vaccinated international students and other allowed  travelers:

On 5th July, 2021 at 11:59 PM EDT, Canada authorities announced that fully vaccinated students and other travelers, who are fully vaccinated and are entering Canada, may not have to:

·               Follow to federal isolation requirements

·               Take a COVID-19 test on day 8

·              Stay at a government-sanctioned hotel

This means that the international students, who have an approved study permit and are fully vaccinated and are meeting the requirements as per Government of Canada website, can avoid 14 days quarantine and can also avoid added expenses to stay at a government approved hotel for quarantine purposes.

International Vaccines which Canada Government has approved are as below-:

·        Pfizer-BioNTech

·        Moderna

·        AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD\

·     Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)

The supporting document/certificate of being vaccinated should be either in English or in French otherwise translation of that certificate needs to be carried along for a documentary proof. Though one can get themselves vaccinated from any country but supporting document related to the vaccine is must and it has to be one out of the above four vaccines.

These new measures apply to international students who:

·        have a valid study permit.

·        test negative for COVID-19 upon arrival in Canada.

·        are fully vaccinated with Government of Canada approved vaccines.

·   will be attending a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) with an approved COVID-19 readiness plan.

International students must inform about their travel plans to the respective college or university they would be attending and must declare as to where they would be getting themselves quarantined upon entering Canada. An international student must have a 14-day quarantine plan ready in case it is determined at the border that they do not meet all of the conditions required to be exempt from the quarantine. This is still the case even if they believe they meet the criteria for being considered a fully vaccinated traveler.

To be eligible for exemptions, fully vaccinated travelers must meet the pre-entry and on-arrival testing requirements, including being tested within 72 hours pre-departure. NavigatorsConsultants helps and guides students step by step how to follow and proceed further with this process they must also be asymptomatic and submit all required COVID-19 information electronically into Arrive CAN prior to travel to Canada and must have a paper or digital copy of their proof of vaccination, and have a suitable quarantine plan.

Indian students entering Canada have to go through one of the following laboratory COVID-19 tests, both on pre- arrival and on-arrival. Testing requirements have to be completed within 72 hours with a negative result on departure:

·   A molecular polymerase chain reaction (PCR), or Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP)

·      Upon arrival at a Canadian airport to undertake a PCR test.
